The Rwandan Genocide is often referred to as one of the worst mass murders in world history. In April of 1994, a mass slaughter of ethnic Tutsis began in Rwanda, where a majority of Hutus, a group of people with a long-standing conflict with the Tutsis, brutally murdered an estimated 1,000,000 people in a matter of 100 days. The Rwandan Genocide was rooted in centuries of tension between the two communities, ultimately resulting in a genocide that left behind immense death, destruction, and grief.

Day 2: Drive to Volcanoes national park
The drive to Volcanoes National Park is an adventure in itself. The roads are winding, curving around the hills and mountains, with stunning views of the lush green landscape and the distant volcanoes. It is a long drive, but it is worth it for the breathtaking scenery and the chance to experience the unique wildlife in the area. Once you arrive at the park, you will be amazed by the beauty of the area. The park is home to many species of animals, including mountain gorillas, buffaloes, elephants, and many more. The park is also home to five of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains, making it a great spot for a trek.
On arrival at the lodge, you will check in, have dinner and prepare for tomorrow’s lifetime adventure.

The Bisate Lodge is an amazing safari lodge located in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park. This luxurious lodge is located ideally on a hill facing the Karisimbi Volcano and is within easy reach of the local attractions and wildlife. Day 3: Gorilla trekking
On this day, you will have the chance to observe these incredible apes in their natural habitat, as well as learn about the conservation efforts in place to protect them. Gorilla trekking requires an early morning start and involves a challenging hike through the rainforest. It is a physical trek, with steep slopes and muddy trails, but the reward at the end is worth it. When you reach your destination, you will find yourself face to face with the mountain gorillas, and you will be able to observe them close up as they go about their daily lives. Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park is an amazing adventure that will stay with you long after you have returned home. It is a life-changing experience, and one that you will never forget.
In the evening, there is an optional community visit to the local villages around the park areas. Here, you will learn more about the Rwandese culture and the lifestyle of the present and the past.

Day 4: Departure
After your healthy breakfast surrounded by the volcanoes, you will check out and leave with your gorilla memories back to Kigali t city catch your flight back home.
Driving from Volcanoes National Park to Kigali, Rwanda’s bustling capital, is an exciting journey. The trip takes around 2-3 hours, depending on the time of day and traffic. Along the route, you will pass many small villages and towns, and you may even catch glimpses of the breathtaking forested Virunga Volcanoes. The drive from Volcanoes National Park to Kigali is mostly on smooth asphalt roads, although some sections are in poorer condition. As you make your way to Kigali, you will pass lush green fields, small mountains, and beautiful valleys. You might even spot some of Rwanda’s wildlife including chimpanzees, bushbucks, and wild boars.
Rwanda and has some of the most amazing driving streets you can find. The streets are lined with lush green foliage, and you will feel the hustle and bustle of city life no matter where you go.
