Overview

Gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park is an unforgettable experience. Home to around 200 mountain gorillas, this national park is one of the few places where you can observe these majestic creatures up close. Gorilla trekking is a great way to experience the beauty of the park in a unique way. The trekking experience typically starts with a briefing from the park rangers, who will explain the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will be taken to the starting point of your trek.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Volcanoes national park

After your breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive to Rwanda’s  Musanze district. This scenic drive will lead you to Volcanoes national park home to the few remaining endangered mountain gorillas.

In the evening, you will visit the Ellen de Generes  Campus of Dian Fossey for a glimpse of Dain fossey’s belongings she used in her gorilla research and conservation works, history of the gorilla habituation and enjoy a 3D gorilla cinema.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and departure

Very early in the morning, you will have your breakfast and checkout the hotel with your packed lunch. Drive to the park headquarters for a briefing before heading in the forest to track the gorillas.

Gorilla trekking takes 2-8 hours depending on the movements of the animals. The walk isn’t only on watching gorillas, a walk in the Virunga massive is one of the great opportunities to sight quite a number of unique wildlife species; from plants to animals

Once you’ve found them, you will have an opportunity to interact with these amazing creatures for a full hour. Watching the babies enjoying their time with fellows, mothers breast feeding and feeding while the silverback watches intently not to harm his family. Trust me this is a moment you will leave to tell for generations.

On return, you will drive back to Kigali international airport or the hotel according to your arrangements.
